Bill Payment Service Summary

Advia Credit Union bill pay processes payments to over 12,000 registered billers electronically and mails checks to custom payees not in the national database. Members schedule one-time payments or set recurring schedules at weekly, biweekly or monthly intervals. The payment calendar displays all upcoming obligations in chronological order, and confirmation notifications arrive by email or push notification after each payment processes. Bill pay is included at no additional cost with every Advia Credit Union checking account. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau recommends reviewing automated payment authorizations periodically, and the bill pay dashboard makes that audit straightforward.

How Bill Pay Works at Advia Credit Union

Bill pay through Advia Credit Union eliminates the manual steps of writing checks, buying stamps and tracking payment dates on a paper calendar. The entire process happens inside online banking or the mobile app. Members add payees once and pay them repeatedly with a few clicks or taps.

The system connects to a national network of over 12,000 registered billers. When you pay a registered biller, the payment transmits electronically and typically posts to the biller's account within one to two business days. For payees not in the database, such as a landlord, a local contractor or a family member, the system generates a physical check and mails it on your behalf. Mailed payments take three to five business days to arrive.

Adding and Managing Payees

Adding a new payee starts with a search. Type the company name and the system returns matching results from the national database. Select the correct biller, confirm your account number with that company and the payee is ready to receive payments. For custom payees, enter the recipient's name, mailing address and any reference or account number they require.

The payee list stores all active billers in one place. Edit account numbers, update addresses or remove payees you no longer pay. Sorting options let you organize payees alphabetically, by most recent payment or by payment frequency. Members who pay a large number of bills each month can group payees by category, such as utilities, insurance, subscriptions and personal obligations.

Advia Credit Union does not share payee data with third parties. All payee information is stored under the same security standards that protect your account credentials, including 256-bit encryption and access controls managed by the security team.

Scheduling One-Time Payments

A one-time payment sends a single payment to a selected payee on a date you choose. Select the payee, enter the dollar amount, pick the payment date and confirm. The system debits your Advia Credit Union checking account on the scheduled date and delivers the payment electronically or by mail depending on the payee type.

Members can schedule payments up to 365 days in advance, which is useful for annual insurance premiums, property tax installments or other obligations with known due dates. Payments scheduled for a weekend or federal holiday process on the next business day. Cancellation is available at any time before the processing cutoff, which is typically 4:00 PM ET on the scheduled date.

Setting Up Recurring Payments

Recurring payments automate regular bills. Choose a payee, set the dollar amount, select a frequency (weekly, biweekly, monthly or custom) and specify the start date. Optionally set an end date or a maximum number of payments. The system handles every payment automatically and sends a confirmation notification after each one processes.

This feature works well for fixed-amount obligations like mortgage payments, car insurance premiums, gym memberships and streaming subscriptions. For bills with variable amounts, such as electric or water utilities, members can set a recurring reminder instead and enter the exact amount each billing cycle. The reminder arrives by email or push notification a set number of days before the due date.

Recurring payments draw from the checking account specified during setup. If the account balance is insufficient on the payment date, the system will attempt the payment and may generate an insufficient funds notification. Members should maintain adequate balances or set up low-balance alerts through online banking to prevent missed payments.

Payment Calendar and History

The payment calendar provides a visual overview of all scheduled and recurring payments. Upcoming payments display with the payee name, amount and processing date. Past payments show the date processed, amount, confirmation number and delivery status. The calendar view spans forward and backward, making it easy to see what was paid last month and what is coming next week.

Payment history retains records for 18 months within the bill pay module. For longer retention, eStatements preserve a seven-year archive of all account activity including bill pay transactions. Members can export payment history in CSV format for accounting software or personal record keeping.

Payment Guarantees and Protections

Advia Credit Union guarantees that payments scheduled at least five business days before the due date will arrive on time. If a guaranteed payment arrives late and the member incurs a late fee from the biller, the credit union will cover the late charge. This guarantee applies to electronic payments to registered billers and requires that the member's account has sufficient funds on the processing date.

The NCUA provides additional guidance on electronic fund transfer protections under Regulation E. Members who notice an unauthorized bill payment should report it within 60 days of the statement date to preserve full protection rights. Advia Credit Union's fraud team investigates all reported unauthorized transactions and provides provisional credit when appropriate.

Bill Pay Through the Mobile App

Every bill pay feature available on desktop works identically on the Advia Credit Union mobile app. Add payees, schedule payments, set up recurring bills and review payment history from your phone or tablet. Push notifications confirm each payment the moment it processes, and the payment calendar syncs in real time between mobile and desktop sessions.

Mobile bill pay is particularly useful for paying bills while traveling, responding to an unexpected invoice or making a last-minute payment before a due date. The app's biometric login provides quick access, and the bill pay section loads within seconds on most devices.
